‘Wow at Every Mile’ Comes to 2026 Denver Colfax Marathon
Denver, CO – Runners rejoice! The Denver Colfax Marathon, presented by Cigna Healthcare, is redefining its race in honor of its 20th year in the Mile High. The city’s only marathon weekend is elevating its marathon and half marathon courses with a new experience: Wow at Every Mile. Runners will be treated to something extraordinary at every mile to make them pause and say, “Wow!”.
With over 40 attractions through both courses, the ‘Wow at Every Mile’ will create an unbeatable experience for each runner. From vibrant attractions and unexpected surprises to high-energy celebrations, every stretch of the course will be a sensory celebration.
“We’re transforming every mile into a feeling of fun and excitement,” said Andrea Dowdy, CEO of the Denver Colfax Marathon. “Our course has always delivered phenomenal experiences, and this year, we’re taking it to the next level. Each mile through the city will be a celebration – giving runners a reason to smile, a new burst of energy and more motivation to keep going towards their goal.”
Whether it’s the thrill of running through iconic landmarks, the cheers of spirited squads or experiencing a themed zone, each mile will offer a distinct experience in 2026. To create these unique moments for runners, the marathon is inviting local acts to “own” a mile of the racecourse. Participants are encouraged to bring their mile to life – creating a vibrant, supportive, and unforgettable experience for runners as they pass through.
The Denver Colfax Marathon is known for its unique entertainment along the course: running through a working fire station, alongside wild animals at the zoo and lakeside lion dances and dragon boats. In its 2026 race, there will be over 40 different “WOW” attractions for runners and the marathon is asking creative entertainers of all varieties and ages to apply.
“We’re honoring the spirit of our runners by celebrating them throughout the course, not just at the finish line,” Dowdy said. “These ‘Wow’ moments will turn into lasting memories and it will create an unforgettable journey through our incredible city.”
The entire line-up will feature entertainment from across Colorado. Each attraction will be selected to represent Denver’s vibrant and diverse arts scene. The Denver Colfax Marathon race weekend is the largest marathon weekend in the 8 state Rocky Mountain Region and a top 25 marathon weekend in the country.
