Colorado Outward Bound School (COBS)

The wilderness is our classroom. The positive outcomes our students experience manifest as increased self-confidence, strengthened leadership and communication skills, and active citizenship. This includes a deepened awareness and respect for the interdependence of individuals and a desire to make a positive difference in their own lives and the lives of others.
The idea that “you are needed” is a critical ingredient to the success of Outward Bound programs. It is this element of inclusiveness and reliance on teamwork that sets an Outward Bound expedition apart from any other learning experience; expedition members are “crew, not passengers.”
At Outward Bound, we don’t just encourage students to contribute to the group; we require it. After all, on an Outward Bound expedition, awareness and respect for others are not optional; it is necessary for success. And as such, strangers become life-long friends. Small accomplishments on a course become life-long habits. Through shared challenges, adversity, failure and success, students discover skills for life.
We are running because this is a hobby of our staff and we see it as a great opportunity to connect with the greater community of the city and the state.
