We live by our motto – ‘RESCUED ANIMALS RESCUING PEOPLE.’ Animal Assisted Therapy Programs of Colorado (AATPC) is one of the first counseling centers in the nation that specifically integrates teams of professional therapists and their therapy animals to facilitate the counseling process. Located on an urban ranch in Arvada, AATPC offers adults, children and families the opportunity to improve their mental health through strategic therapy sessions with a trained Animal Assisted Therapy Counseling therapist and the organization’s rescued 30+ domestic and farm therapy animals. Animal Assisted Therapy Programs of Colorado was originally founded as an LLC but transitioned to a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in order to make the benefits of animal-assisted psychotherapy available to everyone, regardless of ability to pay. In addition to offering mental and behavioral health services to the community, Animal Assisted Therapy Programs of Colorado also trains mental health professionals in the specialty of Animal Assisted Psychotherapy through top-notch internships, intensives, and certificate training.
